De Roode Laars
At this authentic tasting room and cosy bar, you can indulge in liqueurs, genevers and wines. Well known on the Zeedijk: Café De Roode Laars. Where there used to be a shoemaker with a red boot as a sign outside of the shop, things have changed after the turbulent times on the Zeedijk. The shoemaker's building became a café called Café the Roode Laars, then the name transformed into the Roode Baron.
Ger van der Valk, former owner of café de Ooievaar, transformed the bar into an atmospheric, authentic tasting room and gave the tasting room its old name. His son Jeroen has taken over the tasting room and is now the sympathetic host of this piece of Amsterdam history. Did you know that you can book a delicious liqueur tasting? You will find more information on this page (option 1).
